Russ Thorne-Exercise Physiologist
Biography
Born and raised in The Pas Manitoba, Russell graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1989. Since graduation, he has obtained specialty certificates in the areas of Personal Training, Health/Fitness Assessment, Lifestyle Counseling, Exercise Therapy, Resistance /Strength Training, Sports conditioning, and Exercise for Special Populations. Besides instructing fitness and health programs, Russell has also trained and evaluated Fitness Leaders involved in Individual and Group Fitness instruction for many different organizations across Canada. His greatest endeavor is his present project, the opening of Keeway (Giiwe) Wellness Centre with his wife Debra Lynn Thorne. Keeway in Ojibwe stands for “to come home or return to”. He and his wife have found this a very fitting name since the centre is located in the main floor of their heritage house in Erickson, Manitoba. The Keeway Wellness Centre is their home base where they apply all that they have learned. Come and visit us some time!
